cotton waffles

Meditative weaving cotton towels . . . I love colors, but there’s something so peaceful and clear about weaving in neutral.

Warp and weft: 8/2 cotton

EPI: 24 (doubled on a 12-reed)

528 ends

3.5 yard warp

Ends finished with hemstitch and 1” fringe on one end, sewn hem on the other (where the fabric length was cut in half). After washing, I definitely prefer the fringed side; the hemmed side stretches wide and out of shape, and it wrinkles when washed and really needs pressing in order to smooth out again.

Finished size (off the loom): two towels, each 19.5” x 41”

Finished size (after washing): two towels, each 15” x 31” (significant shrinkage)
