traveling the world: Portugal’s algarve coast and sicily’s aeolian islands

Biking, hiking, kayaking, and surfing through Portugal and Sicily with Backroads:

Biking through cork tree groves, hiking tall limestone cliffs above sweeping ocean vistas, and a surf lesson in one of the Algarve Coast’s small fishing villages turned surf towns.

Hiking Mt. Etna and lodging at a beautiful country villa

After traveling by hydrofoil to the Aeolian Islands, we stayed on Vulcano Island and hiked Lipari, Salina, and Panarea (my favorite).

On the last morning, we hiked up Volcano’s active crater to the highest point on the island, where you could see the sulfur steam rising.
