Sunshine Skirt

Pattern: Bonnie Woven Skirt

Size: 10

Fabric: Rayon/linen slub from Bolt Fabric Boutique (70% viscose / 30% linen)

Takeaways: I didn’t like this pattern very much; the directions were difficult to follow and seemed to leave out steps (or needed practical hints, at the least). I had to fill in the gaps, but the finished product fits well. I like the front flat panel of the waistband and the elastic band at the back makes it comfortable to wear, although the join between the flat panel and the elastic is not well finished. The skirt is full, but not so much that it creates unnecessary bulk, and I like the inset pockets.

I chose the color because it was so bright and cheery, but frankly I would have been better off with more of a neutral, because now it’s difficult for me to find any top to wear with it! I always have this problem with full skirts - a close-fitting top looks to bulky around the hips, but a loose-fitting top, combined with the full skirt, makes me look too wide. I’m never sure what the ideal shape for a top with a full skirt like this would be . . .
