Sewing project: 100 Acts of Sewing Tunic No. 1

Pattern: 100 Acts of Sewing Tunic No. 1

Fabric: Merchant & Mills Laundered Linen in color Blushed Antoinette (2 yds)

Sizing: Size L

Notes:  Taken in at the side seams, sleeves cut to largest size length, no pocket

This is a very simple pattern, but as a result, not very tailored or well-fitting. Even though I took it in considerably at the side seams, it’s still very blousy in the body. I purposefully cut the sleeves larger, but I think they’d look better if the body was a closer fit. I also have an issue with the neckline - the neck opening is so wide, it doesn’t fit well under a sweater and almost feels as if it’s going to slip off my shoulders. If I sewed it again, I’d cut the neckline so that it wasn’t so wide and deep.

The best part of this project is the fabric - it’s beautifully soft and I love how it falls and rapes. The pattern brings in some great colors and I love how they plan together. I think I would have preferred to use the fabric for a button up shirt (like a flannel, but lighter and softer).
