Return to Maine Travels: Moosewood Lake to Deer Isle

A pre-dawn “moose safari” yielded only glances of moose from a distance, but did allow us time for canoeing glassy waters and a stop for breakfast.

The colors were just starting to change up in the North Woods, and we drove the dirt logging roads looking for wildlife and foliage.

Next we moved on to Deer Isle, where a few days of rain finally yielded to sun, allowing us a chance to hike the woods and coves of Barred Island, kayak out of Goose Cove, and enjoy an amazing tasting dinner and sunset views at Aragosta.
