Rep weaving a multilayer rug
Warp: 8/4 cotton in natural, with random stripes of 8/2 Brassard cotton colors
Weft: 8/4 cotton alternated with mop cotton, both in natural
135” warp
24 EPI (double-threaded on 12-reed)
25” on loom
600 ends – 24 colored and 600 white (120 / 6 / 108 / 6 / 120 / 6 / 108 / 6 / 120)
Straight warp 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8
Plain weave
2” hem on both ends with 8/2 cotton
Final dimensions: 24” x 78 ½”
Second rug piece: 120 / 6 / 108 / 6 / 108 / 6 / 120
Notes: I tried multiple approaches to sewing the two pieces together along one long end, but I couldn’t get them to lay flat. In the end, I preferred laying them to overlap. I intend to use a jute rug underneath, to provide more dimension and to act as a rug pad to hold the pieces in place.
