Rep weave cotton bathmats

Warp:  Gist Mallo 3/2 (Butter (A) and Honey (B) (one cone/ea)

Weft:  Gist Beam 3/2 (Dandilion):  Weft (6 strands) (3 cones)

 Length:  3.25 yds

10-dent reed / 25 EPI (sleyed 2-3)

576 ends (I ended up with only 504)

Draft: Bars & Stripes Bathmat by Gist Yarn

Except for a 2 1/2” header and footer, the mat is woven with six strands of thread, wrapped around a rug shuttle

Finished sizes:  two mats, each 27” x 19 ½”

Notes:
— Ran out of warp threads (short by 72 ends) – would need one more cone (that would be enough, plus some)

— Had lots of extra weft – could go with only 2 cones

— I finished the first mat at 36” on the loom, but finished size was 27” – even accounting for 2 ½” on each end for hem, I still lost 4” after the piece wasn’t under tension (good to know for future projects).

— On the other hand, it was only a little more than 20” in width on the reed, and finished width was 19 ½”, so very little loss in width.

— I think I’d have enough if I bought three cones for warp (2 in color A and 1 in color B), and then one cone for weft (1 in color A), but that would be a lot of color A (all weft and 2/3 of the warp).  Better option would be three cones for warp (1 in color A and 2 in color B) and then two cones for weft (2 in color A).
