pink skies summer wrap

Jaggerspun Zephyr Wool/Silk 2/18, hand dyed with madder root

EPI – 18

Width – 32” on loom

576 ends

125” warp

Finishing: Hand wash in warm water w/ wool soap, hang dry - it dried a little wrinkled but ironing wasn’t very effective, steaming may work better

Finished size: 28 1/2” x 74”

Notes: This yarn was extremely hard to work with - I think the combination of its wool content, the fine fibers, and the hand dyeing process made it extremely sticky. As a result, it was incredibly difficult to wind onto the back beam, because the fibers kept sticking together. It helped to thread it through heddles 1-8 (instead of just 1-4, which is all that plain weave really required). I had to cut a significant portion off before tying to the front beam because of unequal lengths. As a result, combined with loom waste and shrinkage, I lost more than 50” of the warp length. While the finished product is beautiful, I wouldn’t warp with this yarn again, particularly if it was hand dyed.
