boro inspired quilt
Created for my oldest daughter, per her request . . .
The starting point of this quilt is the center panel, sashiko stitched by hand. I purchased it at a Paris flea market, and it was the inspiration for this quilt.
The remaining fabrics are primarily Japanese and Indian vintage, purchased off Esty here and here.
I pieced the quilt together in a spiral pattern, adding first to the top, then the left, then the bottom, then the right, then around again and again. The strips are in no particular order and in no particular length or width.
Once the front was pinned to the batting, I hand stitched two of the solid blue blocks with white sashiko thread. I then added the backing, machine quilted in the ditch, and bound the quilt.
Finished size: 54” x 75”
Sashiko stitching on the center piece, purchased at a Paris flea market (left), and my own hand stitching (right).
