Watercolor weaving with hand painted warp

Warp and weft:  Gist Yarn Sero silk noil in natural (4 cones for warp and 2 cones for weft)

12 PPI

30 EPI (3 per dent on 10-reed)

668 ends

22” on loom

90” warp

Silk noil warps and skeined wefts were hand painted with logwood and cochineal, then steamed for 30 minutes in stove top enamel canning pot. Next time, try colors that contrast more, and leave more white space between colors, as the colors bleed during steaming.

Wanted 26” on loom (800 ends) – would have needed another cone (or two) BUT I could have used only one cone for weft and then would likely had enough for the entire warp

Note: Add 50 add’l hedddles to each of the eight shafts and this would give me enough for a 34” width.
