Starry Dawn

Pattern: Starry Dawn

Yarns:
Wishbone Yarns’ Flax Flower Fade - one skein each (four total) of So Tonight That I Might See colorway (colorwork)
Wishbone Yarns’ Flax Flower Twist - 5 skeins ofFigue Noire colorway (main color)

Size: 3 (43 ¼” finished bust)

Needles: US 6s

Notes: The Flax Flower Fade colorway yarns were so much thinner than the Flax Flower Twist MC that I had to knit them with yarn held double. The sleeves were very tight on the upper arm, so I did only two decreases, then kept the stitch count the same until I got an inch past the elbow, before resuming the decreases. I used the Fade colorway for the knit rows in the garter stitch hem and sleeve cuffs, to add a little more color.

I knew that I wouldn’t particularly like the fit of this sweater, because it’s yoked (in order to provide an uninterrupted colorwork section). As a result, like all yoke sweaters, it doesn’t fit well - and feels uncomfortable, too tight in some places and too loose in others. It was fun to knit charted colorwork again, though - I haven’t done it in a long time (probably because I never end up wearing the sweaters that feature this kind of colorwork pattern, since they’re all yoked designs!)
