marigold cardigan
Pattern: Lina Cardigan
Yarn: Harrisville Highland in White (MC) (5 skeins) and Mustard (CC) (1 skein)
Size: 44 3/4”
Needles: US 7s
Notes: This size was supposed to give me almost 7” of positive ease, but I have almost no ease at all, and it’s tight in the upper arms. I will knit it again going up one size (or maybe two).
I hated how the button band called for in the pattern looked when I knit it, so I just picked up stitches and knit a ribbed button band so that the ribs ran perpendicular to the body (instead of parallel). Doing it the other way, as called for in the pattern, caused the front to contort weirdly, and the button band didn’t look polished. However, even with this button band, the bottoms at the opening dip down weirdly (I tried to fix this in blocking, but to no avail). This may be because the sweater is too tight overall, so when I button it, it stretches. Overall, I like the pattern, but am very disappointed in the sizing - I knit the same size that I do for all other sweaters and cardigans, which usually produces an excellent fit. The only way I’ll get a good fit on this piece is to knit it very oversized.
