maine: hiking in rangeley
Early morning drive up the road to Quill Hill (above left) to catch the sunrise (below), and backroads detours to search for moose in the ponds and bogs (above right).
Tiny house lodging at Fieldstone Cottages in Rangeley.
I had the entire hike up Bald Mountain Trail to myself - pretty steep and rocky, I wouldn’t do this hike if it was at all slippery. A bit hazy at the top, but an incredible 360 degree view, with Rangeley Lake and Saddleback Mountain one direction, New Hampshire’s White Mountains another, and views all the way to Canada off the backside.
A short hike to on Cascade Gorge Stream Trail rewarded with a lot of waterfall views and fall color.
