On the Loom: linen and cotton

 Linen Runner

Warp: Weaverhouse 20/2 cotton/linen warping linen (70% linen / 30% cotton) – 1035 yds

Weft:  Weaverhouse Linen slub in Natural

  Calculations:
          -- 24 epi (double sley each dent on size 12 reed
       -- 380 ends + 2 floating selvedges = 382 ends
-- 95” warp (approx 2.7 yds) = approx. 1010 yards

Threading:  19 repeats of pattern
— 2 of heddle 4 = 38
— 3 of heddle 3 = 57
— 5 of heddle 2 = 95
— 10 of heddle 1 = 190

Ended up just weaving tabby because I had problems with the tension and getting the threads to wind on the warp.

Cotton Slub Blanket

Warp: 8/4 natural cotton from Weaverhouse

Weft: Plush Cotton & Linen Slub in white from Weaverhouse

Accent weft: Handspun kudzu in soa from Weaverhouse

12-dent reed

250 ends, 5-yard warp

Tie-up: tabby

Treadles: 1/3, 1, 2, 3, 4, 2/4 (I used the first and last treadles for the tabby sections, and the four middle treadles for the twill sections in the order 2, 3, 1, 4)

Size: Two 21” wide pieces, each 60” long, sewn together lengthwise

Pattern: I wove large, random sections of tabby, interspersed with sections of twill. Although I was concerned that the twill sections would cause the piece to pull in on the ends, that didn’t seem to be a problem. I interspersed just a few picks of the accept weft at random intervals.

Start: I began and ended each of the two lengths with 3 picks of warp yarn in tabby.

Finishing:
* Hemstitched on the loom
* Trim fringe to 1/4”
* Machine wash delicate cold, hang dry, finish in dryer on low heat
* Stitch together lengthwise, then stitch seam allowances flat
