exploring maine: isle au haut

I caught the morning ferry from Stonington and then hiked the Western Head Trail to the Cliff Trail, a short spur to see Western Ear, and then on to Goat Trail, before looping back to the dock on Western Head Road. Goat Trail wasn’t worth the effort - and the end was swampy, full of nettles and poorly marked. If I were to do it again, I’d catch Meridian Trail back up to the road.

Scenery was mind-blowing, weather was perfect, and there were only a handful of people in the entire park. A pretty incredible way to get to experience Acadia National Park!
