Cozy Hiker Socks

Pattern: Cozy Hiker Socks

Yarn: The Wool Barn Heritage BFL 4ply (100% BFL fingering weight) - 1 skein (437 yds) plus a few yards of a second skein in color Walnut, knit double-stranded

Needles: US 3 DPNs

Notes:

Cast on 44 sts (instead of the recommended 48 sts for DK yarn, because I’m a loose knitter)

60 rounds for leg (not including cuff)

42 rounds for foot (after gusset decrease is completed)

11 rounds for toe (one add’l decrease)

This time, I tried knitting socks from Bluefaced Leicester on small needles AND double-stranded - all in an attempt to make my socks a little more durable. Because I wear them with boots all winter, I always end up with thin spots along the back of the heel, which is really difficult to darn or patch . . .
