Botanically dyed wool wraps

Warp and weft: Different wool yarns, all botanically dyed by Hannah Thiessen

Worsted/DK weight yarns:
8 EPI
176 ends (44 ea of 4 colors)
4-yard warp
Plain weave

Fingering weight yarns:
EPI 10
220 ends
4-yard warp
Twill

Finishing:
— hemstitch every 3 warp ends together
— trim fringe to 2”
— machine wash cold on hand wash / wool setting
— a few minutes in the dryer

Notes: The yarns I had this time around were a mix of superwash and non-superwash, which led to some real problems! When combined, they didn’t shrink evenly. Tried first washing on warm, getting more of a felted wool, then backed off a little and washed on cold with a little time in the dryer, just to create a light felted fabric. Last wrap was knit completely from superwash yarns, so it didn’t felt at all.

FInished sizes (right to left):

17.5” x 75” (blues/purples)
17.5” x 87” (pinks/purples)
14.5” x 84” (light pinks)
